The
connection between fraud and the “tone at the top” of an organization has
received international attention over the last few years. Tone at the top
refers to the ethical atmosphere that is created in the workplace by the
organization's leadership. Whatever tone management sets will have a
trickle-down effect on employees of the company. If the tone set by managers
upholds ethics and integrity, employees will be more inclined to uphold those
same values. However, if upper management appears unconcerned with ethics and
focuses solely on the bottom line, employees will be more prone to commit fraud
because they feel that ethical conduct is not a focus or priority within the organization.
Employees pay close attention to the behavior and actions of their bosses, and
they follow their lead. In short, employees will do what they witness their
bosses doing.

WISHING ON THE HOT DAY OF TOMORROW
This evening, I take an opportunity to wish
all my group members and all 3rd year BAPRM students to do the best
in the hard and hot day of tomorrow “The day of Oral research defense.” I ask
for them to avoid any kind of fear and worry. They need to have enough
confidence and to be very competent when they answer their questions concerned
to their research findings.
I
would like to encourage them that anything to fear is fear itself. They need to
be smart physically and mentally and they must be very keen when tackling the
questions in order to add their credit for the better performance.
You
always never say never in your life!! We have to fight till the end!
Healers can be good allies in campaign to protect albinos against.
In what appears
to be another desperate attempt to bring an end to the killing of people living
with albinism, the government of Tanzania has reportedly arrested and detained
over 200 ‘witch doctors and traditional healers’ in the country. Those arrested
were ‘’healers and soothsayers’’ ,who were operating without a license. Found
in their possession included ‘’lizard skin, warthog teeth, ostrich eggs, monkey
tails, bird claws, mule tails and lion skin”. I must commend the government of
Tanzania for its commitment to tackling this vicious practice and hope that its
effort pays off and leads to the eradication of albino killings in the country,
and in East Africa as a whole.
This is not the
first time that the Tanzanian government has taken action against witchdoctors
and traditional healers. Still the practice of albino murders and witch killing
continues. So what is wrong with state intervention in this matter? What is
missing in the response so far to the problem? First, we need to ask: How will
the mass arrest of ‘traditional healers’ lead to the eradication of this
murderous behaviour? If state action has not been effective in the past, why
would it yield positive and lasting results this time? Traditional medicine men
have been linked to this harmful practice in the past. They ask people to bring
the body parts of albinos for rituals.
But there is
nothing in the latest report indicating that those arrested were implicated in
any albino killing. So why were they arrested? Why were they detained? Are they
going to be prosecuted and jailed for being ‘’witch doctors or traditional
healers or soothsayers’’? Are the materials found in their possession going to
be used to prosecute them? Will they count as evidence? Evidence for what?
According to
the report, the ‘witchdoctors’ were arrested because they were not licensed
‘healers and soothsayers’. Is the government saying that ‘unlicensed healers’
are responsible for albino murders and if the country gets rid of them then the
killings would stop? What does it mean to be a ‘licensed soothsayer’ in
Tanzania? Do the so called licensed soothsayers or healers not use some of the
materials found in the possession of arrested witchdoctors? If the licensed
witchdoctors do not use these materials for their work, what do they use?
The government
of Tanzania needs to let the world know exactly how the arrest of witchdoctors
will help combat the magical beliefs that drive albino killings in Tanzania.
Tanzanians are killing albinos because of the belief that the skin can be used
for rituals which will bring wealth or good luck. Will the arrest get the
people of this country to abandon this belief? I do not think so.
The government
should focus on getting Tanzanians to understand that this belief has no basis
in reason or in reality; it is a misconception based on fear and ignorance. The
government of Tanzania should put in place programmes to dispel and debunk this
irrational claim. Until the people of Tanzania abandon this superstitious
belief, the savage act of killing albinos will not stop even if the state
authorities arrest all licensed and unlicensed traditional healers and
soothsayers in the country. The arrests have made a statement but officials
need to be unequivocal that the belief in the magical power of albino skin is nonsensical,
baseless, and should not be entertained by any thinking human being. Otherwise,
the government runs a risk of simply driving this traditional practice
underground where it will continue to occur.

SUSPECTED AL SHABAAB MILITANTS ARRESTED
One terror
suspect was killed and 10 others were flushed out of a mosque here where they
were found with explosives and an al-Shabaab flag. Angry residents of Nyandero
village in Kidatu Ward of Kilombero District attacked the suspect and set him
ablaze after a fracas, during which he slashed a police officer in the neck
with a sword.
He was said to
be the host of the suspects arrested in the local mosque with 30 explosives,
several live bullets, bomb detonators and police uniforms. Police said the
items indicated that the suspects intended to commit a felony. Along with the
black flag popularized by the Somali-based terror group, the suspects had text
and exercise books bearing Arabic words. Those arrested have yet to be
identified and the police have launched investigations to establish their
origin and motive.
Morogoro
Regional Police Commander Leonard Paul told reporters that the suspects were
arrested following a tip-off from local residents. Police laid an ambush at the
mosque after a search in the village established that the suspects had
disappeared from the house where they were first spotted. They were finally
flushed out at about 9.30pm on Tuesday. Witnesses said more suspects may have
escaped as initial reports show there were about two dozen people who had
arrived in several Bajajs.
Mr Paul
identified the dead man as Hamad Makwendo from Manasini-Ruaha in Kilombero.
Police started trailing the suspects following a tip-off from informers who
said they were suspicious of their movements.
“Police lay in
wait for Makwendo, who was co-ordinating their movement,” said Mr Paul. When he
was stopped for inspection, he dashed away, leading to a chase.”
After a while,
Commander Paul said, Makwendo pulled out a sword and slashed Corporal Nasoro in
the neck. The officer was taken to hospital. Mr Paul said a colleague on the
same patrol shot the suspect in the leg to immobilise him. But when he resisted
and struck the officer, a huge mob that was helping in the chase lynched him.
A reinforcement
of police from the Kilombero headquarters helped arrest the others from the
Sunni Mosque in Kidatu area. Those in the mosque were frisked and those found
with the items were arrested.

IS TOGETHERNESS A REAL FRIENDSHIP?
In
a sense, it is believed that for individuals to be closer shows the sign of a
real friendship but in reality that is not true. Friendship is a spirit that
shows from people’s hearts and not with togetherness of the people.
A
person can be very closer with you but in manner is a liar. He/she is
unfaithful and dishonest. In life it is better to avoid the liar friends and
stay away with them. The real friendship is determined by real actions between
friends.
A
friend in need is a friend indeed, keep it up your real friendship!!

GLOBALIZATION
Globalization can create new opportunities, new ideas and open new markets that
an entrepreneur may have not had in their home country. As a result, there are
a number of positives associated with globalization. It create great
opportunities for firms in less industrialized countries to tap into more and
larger markets the world, this can lead to more access to capital flows, technology,
human capital, cheaper imports and larger export markets, and it allow business
in less industrialized countries to become part of international production
networks and supply chains that are the main conduits of trade.

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
The
organization base rests on management philosophy, value, vision and goals. This
in turn drives the organizational culture which is composed of the formal
organization, informal organization, and the social environment. The culture
determines the type of leadership, communication, and group dynamics within the
organization. The workers perceive this as the quality of work life which
directs their degree of motivation. The final outcome is performance,
individual satisfaction, and personal growth and development. All these element
combine to build the model or framework that the organization operates from.
CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Change
in an organization is very important, while doing change in management there
are principles to follow such as leading with culture in the sense that we have
focus on culture, by first taking the time and acknowledge each company underlying culture, leaders of the merged firm
harnessed deeply ingrained strength to energize the change and avoided the
incoherence that could have resulted from a less international and sensitive
redesign, the other principle is start at the top, involve every layer, make
the rational and emotional case together, act your way into new thinking, lead
outside the lines, leverage formal solutions, leverage informal solutions and
assess and adapt.

Wisdom is my weapon
I am the man with high wisdom. I normally know what to do for the best results. I can do the best because I am the best one. I always think more before taking any action on what to do. I like to evaluate things by measuring its negative and positive impact before making a final decision.
The
man who always seeks truth with wisdom!!

ENVIRONMENTAL SUISTAINABILITY
Environmental
sustainability involves making decisions and taking action that are in the
interests of protecting the natural world, with particular emphasis on
preserving the capability of the environment to support human life. It is an
important topic at the present time, as people are realizing the full impact
that businesses and individuals can have on the environment.
Environmental
sustainability is about making responsible decisions that will reduce your
business' negative impact on the environment. It is not simply about reducing
the amount of waste you produce or using less energy, but is concerned with
developing processes that will lead to businesses becoming completely
sustainable in the future.
Currently,
environmental sustainability is a topical issue that receives plenty of
attention from the media and from different governmental departments. This is a
result of the amount of research going into assessing the impact that human
activity can have on the environment. Although the long term implications of
this serious issue are not yet fully understood, it is generally agreed that
the risk is high enough to merit an immediate response. Businesses are expected
to lead in the area of environmental sustainability as they are considered to
be the biggest contributors and are also in a position where they can make a
significant difference.
