THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2015

Each year the International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8, is an annual holiday that has been observed since 1900s to promote equal rights for women. The IWD nowadays it is important to appreciate how far the women’s rights movement has come while also there are still more issues that require equality at the global levels.

“Make it happen”, is the theme of 2015 for the International Women’s Day “IWD”. It encourages effective action for advancing and recognizing women. Tanzania is to ensure that, women are economically and entrepreneurially empowered. It believed that when you empower a woman, you empower the society.

Different activists and media platforms have used their voices to bring attention to issues like Female Genital Mutilation in Tanzania, Liberia and Cameroon, teenage pregnancy, sexual exploitation only few mentioned.
